Then if I click on the rectangle tool again and draw a second rectangle, it is not rounded. But I see that I can set Rx and Ry to zero. This is what surpised me because I started a new document. I see that in the settings panel that has the label "Change" that the numbers for Rx and Ry are greater than zero. I am already getting a bit used to the GUI for 1.1. Fill out the options in the dialog that pop. Using and the resize handles is likely to distort the corners into ellipses. Usage: Select or create a polygon in Inkscape using the pencil tool Click Extensions->Modify Path->Rounded Corners. If you need to resize it you wont be able to use the tool to do so, as you might with a normal rounded rectangle. The link above takes me to a manual page that says "This section not yet updated for Inkscape v0.92." No worries though. But be aware that your 'rectangle' is now a path.
